General Volunteer Positions

Click on the links below for information on the general areas where volunteers are needed on either a regular or seasonal basis.

Natural Science Center Docent:

We need a cheerful person to help our Natural Science Center staff answer phones, keep the gift shop tidy, help with small clerical duties and interact with our visitors. A 3 to 4 hour shift at least two days per month (especially weekends!) during regular business hours would be a great help.

Parking Attendant:

Assist staff with parking on weekends in Spring. Volunteer will direct traffic and assist visitors and with locating appropriate parking.

Volunteers work in partnership with the staff to maintain and develop the trails and gardens, work in our greenhouse, or perform light maintenance and repairs. We can use your help for a 3 to 4 hour shift at least two days per month during our business hours.

Office Assistant:

Assist office staff with data entry, taking phone calls, bulk mailings, and other light clerical duties 3 or 4 hours per day, at least twice per month.

Nature Docent:

Conduct week-end tours, answer visitor questions, provide educational discussions on our local habitats, handle our animal ambassadors, and interact with visitors. We are in need of volunteers willing to help out with a 4 hour shift, at least two week-end days per month.

Special Events:

Friendly, outgoing volunteers are needed to help out at any or all of our three annual fundraising events; SummerFest Art Fair (June), Bat Night (October), and Evening At Tucker (December). Meet-and-greet visitors, assist with children’s activities, help with set-up and take-down, or provide help where needed.

  • We also have opportunities for group efforts.
  • Community Service hours for high school students can be arranged.
